About

Antonio Altamirano is the co-founder of Tangelo Technologies, a Venture Studio and Innovation Lab in Silicon Valley, California. Antonio has worked with corporations such as Intel, Facebook, Google and Intuit across multiple areas, including digital revenue growth, automation, conversational technology, and custom software applications. Antonio’s entrepreneurial successes have been recognized by The Country of Israel, Accenture, The State of California, and Google, among others for driving technological innovation across corporations, underrepresented communities, and startups. Given technology’s long and lasting effects on so many aspects of business and daily life, Antonio believes that technology can and must contribute to society in positive, ethical, equitable and scalable ways.

Antonio has a healthy disregard for the status quo and this led him to build startups from scratch. He built and launched an interest discovery engine for the Spanish-speaking market that grew to millions of monthly active users. He also developed a location-based app that allowed users to collect and explore the history of a place, thus making it searchable and shareable. This now-patented invention represents some of the earliest personalized discovery technology in the market. As software continues to influence every industry, Antonio has observed how the skill gap continues to widen for minorities. As a way to bridge that gap, Antonio launched Latino2, the first technology conference for the LatinX audience in America. Eleven years into the entrepreneurial journey, he is just getting started.

Prior to starting Tangelo with his wife and business partner, Antonio pioneered the adoption of early social media platforms at Fortune 500 companies and managed the integration of emerging technologies. He was instrumental in helping Yahoo!, eLoan and Astrology.com, achieve exponential growth as they exceeded goals in digital growth and search marketing.

Antonio holds a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics from San Francisco State University. Prior to enrolling, however, he knew next to nothing about software. Indeed, he’d never even owned a computer while growing up. Antonio’s life experiences taught him to persevere through seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Indeed, in the process of developing a new multi-cultural pathway, he intuitively understood the value of combining technology with psychology and design.

Looking forward over the next five years, Antonio anticipates major shifts within tech. He foresees a new generation of entrepreneurs no longer held back by the usual barriers to entry such as gender, a college degree, or prior experience and no longer centralized within the confines of Silicon Valley. As opportunities for innovation increase, Antonio expects to be not only at the forefront of leadership but also a source of inspiration to the disrupters of tomorrow.

How To Build a Digital Native Brand

200+ Digital Transformation projects across multiple industries and 11 years later, Antonio has developed a framework to make your brand digitally native.

Technology was at the center of some of the biggest consumer product launches over the past couple of years. Kylie Jenner unveiled her cosmetics brand using social media and sold $420 million in 18 months — and it’s estimated that her company will be worth over a billion dollars by 2022. Rihanna launched a makeup line for women of color and racked up $100 million in sales in the first 40 days and generated $72 million worth of earned media thanks to 132 million YouTube views. Glossier was conceived by founder and CEO Emily Weiss after her beauty blog became a smashing success.

This talk will address some of the following key points:

  1. Digital Native Brand: Laser-focus on product quality and customer experience;
  2. Foster a digital-native mindset across the company;
  3. Everything is digital, not just your marketing;
  4. Manage your technical debt early and often;
  5. Make your customer experience magical;
  6. Storytelling powered by technology;
  7. The future is digital.

How Retail Is Utilizing Technology To Keep Up With E-Commerce

A major transition for established brick-and-mortar retailers and consumer-packaged-goods companies is underway whether they like it or not. The transition has to do with the fact that digital transformation and software are permeating every level of business, from warehouse management systems to the supply chain on the blockchain.

Why Marketing Automation Matters For Your Business

Antonio was one of the first digital professionals to bring and deploy automation software for large corporations. Antonio developed and deployed an automation system for one of the largest consulting companies in the world from inception to scale. The system handled tens of thousands of microtransactions per day and a multi-million dollar budget across 14 countries and 7 languages. Within 12 months, this program became the top performer across a corporation with more than 100,000 employees.

Automation is the future. Marketing automation, in particular, can turn a lean marketing team into a force to be reckoned with, allowing startups and growing businesses to compete with large-scale enterprises in the war for customer attention. The number of options is vast, though, and it can be a challenge to find the ideal mix of software as a service (SaaS) automation tools.

How To Achieve Astounding Digital Transformation Results

Build a digital advantage so vast, that competitors feel compelled to copy your design. Be so good that them copying you does not matter a single bite as the real value rests upon the microservices, APIs, and abstract data layers. Software powers crucial business operations from tracking a fleet of trucks to automating inbound marketing.

Be so good that while your jet is already in the air, the competition is just starting to figure out they need one too. This is a framework that will help you realize your company’s digital power.

6 Tips On How To Accomplish The Impossible

10 years of building startups distilled into 6 areas that are key to your success:

  1. Fully trust your intuition: Let your intuition guide you. Find your own way of getting things done and forget folk stories about how a startup should work or how your company should be built. Do it your way and convince others to follow you. Trust yourself and have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
  2. Gather your top level goals
  3. Take the time to plan
  4. Don’t deviate from your plan, for anyone
  5. Remove the noise
  6. Finally, get it done: Just do it. Develop a system through which you can visualize your progress. Use a list or a check-in meeting to ensure you are moving forward. This system should be tangible to you and to your team. There is no better motivator than getting things done.
