Antonio Altamirano is the co-founder of Tangelo Technologies, a Venture Studio and Innovation Lab in Silicon Valley, California. Antonio has worked with corporations such as Intel, Facebook, Google and Intuit across multiple areas, including digital revenue growth, automation, conversational technology, and custom software applications. Antonio’s entrepreneurial successes have been recognized by The Country of Israel, Accenture, The State of California, and Google, among others for driving technological innovation across corporations, underrepresented communities, and startups. Given technology’s long and lasting effects on so many aspects of business and daily life, Antonio believes that technology can and must contribute to society in positive, ethical, equitable and scalable ways.

Antonio has a healthy disregard for the status quo and this led him to build startups from scratch. He built and launched an interest discovery engine for the Spanish-speaking market that grew to millions of monthly active users. He also developed a location-based app that allowed users to collect and explore the history of a place, thus making it searchable and shareable. This now-patented invention represents some of the earliest personalized discovery technology in the market. As software continues to influence every industry, Antonio has observed how the skill gap continues to widen for minorities. As a way to bridge that gap, Antonio launched Latino2, the first technology conference for the LatinX audience in America. Eleven years into the entrepreneurial journey, he is just getting started.

Prior to starting Tangelo with his wife and business partner, Antonio pioneered the adoption of early social media platforms at Fortune 500 companies and managed the integration of emerging technologies. He was instrumental in helping Yahoo!, eLoan and, achieve exponential growth as they exceeded goals in digital growth and search marketing.

Antonio holds a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics from San Francisco State University. Prior to enrolling, however, he knew next to nothing about software. Indeed, he’d never even owned a computer while growing up. Antonio’s life experiences taught him to persevere through seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Indeed, in the process of developing a new multi-cultural pathway, he intuitively understood the value of combining technology with psychology and design.

Looking forward over the next five years, Antonio anticipates major shifts within tech. He foresees a new generation of entrepreneurs no longer held back by the usual barriers to entry such as gender, a college degree, or prior experience and no longer centralized within the confines of Silicon Valley. As opportunities for innovation increase, Antonio expects to be not only at the forefront of leadership but also a source of inspiration to the disrupters of tomorrow.
