Muta'Ali is an award-winning director celebrated for his impactful feature documentaries, including "MoviePass, MovieCrash" (HBO 2024), and "Cassius X: Becoming Ali" (Smithsonian Channel 2023).

He earned an NAACP Image Award nomination for Best Director of a Documentary for his critically acclaimed "Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn" (HBO 2020) and his Gracie Award-winning documentary short, "Hear Her Voice" (ABC 2021), highlights the disparity in maternal mortality affecting the Black community.

In television, Muta'Ali has served as a producer on the Emmy-nominated "Juneteenth: Together We Triumph," and "After Floyd: The Year That Shook The World." His commitment to storytelling is grounded in the themes of "Love, Art & Activism," which he champions through his work and speaking engagements.

Muta'Ali has appeared on major media platforms including ABC News, MSNBC, CBS, Fox News, BBC, BBC Radio, PBS, SiriusXM, WBAI, and NPR. His interviews and work have been featured and reviewed in Variety, Inc. Educated at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the Georgia Institute of Technology, Muta'Ali began his career as a GEM Fellow at IBM Research, where he earned a patent for a unique graphical user interface. His dedication to addressing significant cultural and social issues ensures his position as a leading figure in contemporary documentary filmmaking.

Currently, Muta'Ali is directing a feature documentary about an Oscar-nominated artist who is giving back to her community, continuing his commitment to telling stories that matter.
