About

Josh Miller is a queer changemaker, international public speaker, outdoor explorer and multi-disciplinary artist based in Denver, Colorado. As co-founder and Co-Executive Director of IDEAS xLab and co-founder of the nationally recognized (Un)Known Project, Miller believes that being visible can shift culture, and that sharing our stories can be the catalyst that changes how people see and move through the world. Whether onstage, in community, or on the trail, Miller is dedicated to uncovering our shared humanity—and imagining new ways to move forward together.

A 2x TEDx speaker, 2022 Soros Equality Fellow, and recipient of the 2024 Fund for the Arts Leadership Award, they have engaged audiences across the U.S. and internationally—from Fortune 500 companies to convenings in Salzburg and beyond. Miller’s work has been featured by The New York Times, The Aspen Institute, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and more.

Their efforts include a focus on uncovering our value in the workplace, unearthing and honoring the stories of Black enslaved people, celebrating LGBTQ+ brilliance, and challenging traditional narratives of beauty and belonging.

Honored with the 2022 Nonprofit Visionary Leader Award by Louisville Business First, Miller was also named to both Business Equality Magazine’s Forty LGBTQ+ Leaders Under 40 and Louisville Business First’s Forty Under 40. Their commitment to inclusion extends beyond the stage, advocating for sober-friendly spaces and lifting up cross-cultural voices through art and photography. In 2018, they ran the Gay Games Marathon, and through Josh Miller Ventures, create Wearable Photos that merge fashion, identity, and storytelling.

Miller holds an MBA from Indiana University and a dual undergraduate degree in Art Administration and Business Administration from Bellarmine University. They have participated in national leadership initiatives including the Colorado Collective Leadership Initiative, CBCA Leadership Arts, and the National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health.
